Don't Put Your Pinky in the Sharpener Again

Beautiful Babe went to a ladies' summer pool party with me this year and she was whooped when we got home!

I have run out of post titles, so this post is titled after a quote I never thought I would have to say, but I did have to say it, after a certain 4 year old stuck his pinky in the pencil sharpener. All is well now, so we can laugh at it.

The big girls had their first real slumber party with two friends who are close in age. The giggling was out of this world, but when I finally got firm at midnight, everyone fell asleep!
Sarah is no longer being swaddled! She falls asleep by herself in her crib now.
He wasn't tired, so he skipped his nap.
Reading stories to put Sarah to sleep
I want a sketch or painting of this on my wall!
Can't resist her smiles & giggles

Little Ariel
Charis had her first piano recital. She's doing great with her piano skills. Bubby was not thrilled with the length of this performance. He kept mouthing, "I'M BORED".

Industrious little girls figured out how to bathe their stinky pup
We went on a sketching tour of VMFA.
Some kids from our homeschool group. We've gotten some wonderful new families recently, so we've enjoyed having play dates with new little friends and new Mom-friends!
The cutest!

Charis turned nine years old. I can't believe we've been parents for almost a decade. She is an awesome little girl, so hard-working, diligent, driven, ambitious and adventurous. She is a born leader, loves a challenge, and we can't wait to see how the Lord uses her in the future!
We started some of her 4th grade subjects this week. She was SO HAPPY to be working again (and we only took 2 weeks off!).  She loves working and learning.
I spy 5 children!
Pool party!
I think Sarah's such a happy baby because she gets SO MUCH LOVE  and attention on a daily basis.

We had the big girls' birthday cookout back in July, and it was great to have so much family together! I only regret that I didn't take more pics.
This lady's a trooper!

Bday fun
Snuggle time
Just when I thought Mike was the sweetest Daddy for throwing on his trunks to play in the sprinkler with the kids (above), another day he gave in to their request to play in the kid's pool with them!
Great big guy in a little pool = Sweetest Daddy ever.

She's Seven

Hannah has been so excited all week to turn 7! She had a fun day, with a surprise visit from Pop, special treats, gifts, and a dinner totally devoid of anything green, per her request. 😀
Oh my Hannah, what can I say?! You're growing so fast into a lovely lady. You add a touch of beauty to everything. You spend hours sketching pictures at your desk, trying cool new perspectives and working to get your drawings just right. You have a sweet and sensitive heart, and we love you tons!

Two months later...

We are having so much fun with our new beautiful babe! I wish I could comment on more of these photos to look back on and remember what was going on at the time, but out here in the boonies our so-called unlimited internet is ratcheted back to super-slow after 15 gigs, so I'm left with an iPhone and my thumbs for blogging. Oh well, I'll do my best!Sarah is such a precious baby. She has her fussy moments like we all do, but she's content and snuggly most of the time!
Undie head.
Her first vaccine hurt SO bad, I was tempted to quit them all.
Like Mommy, like Bethy. I didn't crop out all the clean laundry because this is just life, and real life looks nothing like Pinterest.

All three big girls are the most wonderful helpers. They LOVE this baby to pieces and they're eager to help me around the house, too.

Mike and Care got caught in the rain on a bike ride, so they decided to stay out and play in it for a while.

Snoozing during tummy time.
Field day at P.E.!
Bubs made some new little friends this year, and some of them are joining the same co-op as us this fall! We're so excited for it!

Hannah's new sweet bestie

Fig & Pop had EIGHT grandchildren ages 8 and under for a few days. Aunt Sarah's help was a lifesaver.
First time meeting Uncle Petey.

Conked out on the way home from a fun time in Hburg.

Maymont Park on a HOT day

Making hieroglyphic bookmarks. Bethy's dancing like an ancient Egyptian.

Cousin time with the Ackers!

Meeting the beautiful Aunt Sally!
