Surprise!

Last Saturday morning, Mike and I cleaned the house while the kids played and watched TV.  Mike seemed to be in a big rush to go out for donuts by 10:15 (usually I'm the one rushing for donuts), but he also was insistent that I get a shower and have time to "primp" before we left.

When we got home from the donut run, I walked in the door and saw balloons and birthday decor, then 3 of the ladies I love most popped out to say, "surprise!".  Mom, Dad, Aunt Sarah and Aunt Vicky had come to give me a surprise 30th birthday party!  It was the best.

Aunt Sarah did a photo shoot with this blushing Bride

Mike's expression in the background probably represents how he will feel when his girlies actually do get married.  This week I asked Charis if she wants to be a wife one day.  She said, "Yes.  But I want him to look like Daddy... and sound like Daddy.  And smell like Daddy.  Well, I want him to be Daddy!"

This is the inside of the hilarious birthday card Charis wrote for me.  The one she picked was a get well card.  She didn't read it; she just thought the pictures were beautiful.  She wrote it by herself: "Dear Mom, We hope you have a very good day today.  Happy Birthday.  We love you."
And this man is still not walking, not pulling up, not standing, but at 13 months he has mastered this head-stand.

Happy Resurrection Sunday! "He is not here, but has risen!"  (Hallelujah!)
